After getting off to a torrid start in 2008-09, Oklahoma's Blake Griffin
appears a goot choice to go first in next Spring's NBA Draft. |
|
After the deep and talented NBA Drafts of 2007 and 2008, most anticipate a drop off in 2009. The depth of freshman talent the past two years certainly appears likely to take a break next year, with only a handful of first year players projected to be ready for the pros. It's also difficult to gauge how the foreigners will impact the draft, outside of Spain's mercurial Ricky Rubio - assuming he declares.
The 2009 NBA Draft does, however, appear to have quality through the Lottery and it will be interesting to see who rises over the next year and conversely, who drops off. If early season play in 2008-09 is any indication, Oklahoma's Blake Griffin is a good bet to hear his name first, while Demar DeRozan, James Harden, Brandon Jennings and Hasheem Thabeet seem Lottery locks.
Who will be the darkhorses who emerge over the next seven or so months?
